(1) Thus speaks my Sun, Mursilis, the great king, king of the land of Hatti, the valiant, son of Suppiluliumas, the great king, the valiant :
(3) Even before I sat on the throne of my father, all the foreign countries were hostile against me. After my father had become a god (i.e. died), my brother Arnuandas sat on the throne of his father. Afterwards, he fell ill. When the foreign countries heard that my brother Arnuandas (was) ill, the foreign countries started to be hostile.
(8) When my brother Arnuandas became a god, the foreign countries who were not yet hostile became hostile. The neighboring foreign countries spoke thus: "his father who was king of the land of Hatti was a valiant king. He had conquered enemy countries. Then he became a god. His son who sat on the throne of his father was also a warrior. Then he fell ill and he became a god.
(14) But the one who sat on the throne of his father is a child. He will not save the land of Hatti nor the borders of the land of Hatti."
(16) My father who had garrisoned (troops) in the land of Mitanni was garrisoned (there), and the feasts of my mistress, the Sun-goddess of Arinna were regularly neglected.
(19) When I, the Sun, sat on the throne of my father, even before I went to the foreign countries who were hostile against me, I went to the feasts of my mistress the Sun-goddess of Arinna. I celebrated them and I lifted my hand toward my mistress the Sun-goddess of Arinna. I spoke thus: "O my mistress the Sun-goddess of Arinna, the neighboring foreign countries who called me 'a child' have belittled me. Then, they have started to attack your borders, my mistress the Sun-goddess of Arinna. O my mistress the Sun-goddess of Arinna, come on with me. Strike those neighboring foreign countries." The Sun-goddess of Arinna heard me talking. She came on with me. After I had sat on the throne of my father, I defeated those neighboring foreign countries in ten years. I have destroyed them.
(30) The Gasgas of Turmitta became hostile against me and attacked me. Then the Gasgas even came in and started to attack regularly the land of Turmitta. So I, the Sun, went there. I attacked the lands Halilas and Duddusgas who were the main regions of the land of Gasgas. I captured prisoners, oxes and sheep, and I sent them back to Hattusas. I burnt down Halilas and Duddusgas.
(36) When the land of Gasgas heard that Halilas and Duddusgas had been destroyed, the whole land of Gasgas mobilized. It came to fight me, and I, the Sun, fought it. My mistress the Sun-goddess of Arinna, my lord the awesome Tarhus, Mezzullas, all the gods came along with me. I defeated the reinforcements of the land of Gasgas, I destroyed them. I submitted the Gasgas of the land of Turmitta, and they started to levy troops for me.
(43) Then I, the Sun, came back: the Gasgas of the land Ishupitta who were hostile against me did not send me troops anymore. Then I, the Sun, went to the land Ishupitta. I conquered (the city) Armessenas. I captured prisoners, oxes and sheep, and I sent them back to Hattusas. I burnt down the town. I submitted again the Gasgas of the land of Ishupitta. They started to levy troops for me. I did this in one year.
(49) The next year, I went to the highland : the land of Tipiya who was hostile against me did not levy troops anymore for me. Then I, the Sun, fought (the city) Kathaidduwas. I sent captured prisoners, oxes and sheep to Hattusas. Then I burnt down the town.
(53) Then I came back to Hattusas...
