the name "Chaldea" indicated in the Ancient times an area in Southern Babylonia where the Assyrians had transported a neighbouring Semitic tribe (the Chaldeans), that tribe eventually prospered and in the Babylonian Empire, the élite was of Chaldean stock ; to be distinguished from modern-day "Chaldeans"
